Historically a sub-set of our portfolio went onto Standard Variable Rates (SVR), MBC & SME Direct regardless of whether termination was received. With a view of making this process fairer, from Jan'24 all customers who do not renew their current contract but remain on supply will fall onto SVR rather than deemed.
This creates complications so it's better to avoid this, although it is possible.
The changes were determined in the Winter'22 project to better protect our business from market turbulence and risks, and to provide an improved customer journey at the end of the contract period.
Standard Variable Rates (SVR) are more favourable for the customer compared to Deemed, and it provides the certainty of rolling supply on 30 days' notice.
The 'Tariff' product has the SVR rate - they are the same.
