How to Read Your New Invoice

This is unique to you and will be on all correspondence that we will send you. 

Your account number will start with an “A-”, please use this when you want to contact us so we can quickly identify you.

Your MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) is used for identification of the supply point your meter is attached to. This reference is what the electricity industry uses to identify your property, and is an important piece of information to have to hand if you want to switch supplier. Please be aware that it’s not the same as your Account Number.

You can see this on the second page of your invoice listed as “Supply Number. The MPAN starts with a large 'S' and has four component parts.

The grey box on the second page of your invoice details the period covered and the reads used to calculate your energy consumption. This box contains:

• Consumption Dates:  This identifies the consumption period that the invoice is covering.     
• Charge descriptions:  This could be “Day” or “Night”, or just “Standard” if you have a single rate meter
• Read Dates:  The dates of the reads used to calculate your invoice.  Please note that the start date is inclusive, and the end date is exclusive. Your next invoice will start from the last read date on your current invoice.
• Read Types:  The sources of the reads we used.  The sources could be a ‘Customer reading’ that you have provided, or a ‘Data collector reading’ that we have obtained either remotely or from a physical meter reading visit.  In lieu of either of these reads types we would estimate your consumption based upon your previous usage, and indicate this with a read type of ‘Estimated Reading’
• Electricity Used:  Based upon the difference between the start and end reading we will calculate the electricity you have used and multiply this by your contracted rate.
• Standing Charge:  The standing charge is a per day value that covers costs such as distribution, connection, balancing and settlement charges.  It is charged p/day for the duration of your invoice consumption period.  

CCL (Climate Change Levy) is an environmental tax charged on energy that businesses use. 

VAT (Value Added Tax) is added to all energy bills by the government. You will either pay 5% or 20% depending on your businesses status.

The vast majority of customers are set up on a Direct Debit that we collect on a monthly basis. You can see on your invoice when we plan to take this, but bear in mind it could be a few days after this date.
